What is Plummelo?
Plummelo is a web service that combines the ability to collect and share recipes from online and offline sites, and develop shopping lists all in one place. Essentially, Plummelo makes preparation for cooking and food shopping easier.
Here’s just a small sampling of what you can do with Plummelo:
Collect all of your favorite recipes in one online recipe box
Search for your favorite recipes on different websites, then save them in your online recipe box at Plummelo. You can even save grandma's secret recipe by manually entering it (and keeping it private). Imagine, no more paper clutter in your kitchen.
Never wonder where you put that recipe
Plummelo is web-based, so you can access your Plummelo recipe box from any computer or mobile device. It's much easier to search through your recipes in your online recipe box than to flip through hundreds of recipe cards. Just log in, and they're all there.
Plan out what you're going to eat
Simply browse your recipe box or recipes that other Plummelo users have saved, then add the recipes to your shopping list. That's it. Spend less time planning, and more time enjoying cooking and eating!
Print shopping lists
Plummelo's shopping list feature automatically creates a printable shopping list of all of the ingredients from the recipes you want to cook. Your grocery shopping will be so much more efficient because you'll only be buying what you need. We even group items by grocery store section so that you don't have to ping-pong across your shopping list or, worse yet, the grocery store. What could be easier?
Do I have to pay to use Plummelo?
Nope, it’s all free! Use the recipe aggregator, meal planning, and shopping list features as much as you like.
How do I save my recipes?
To begin collecting recipes from online sources, be sure to first open a Pummelo account (it’s easy and free!) and download the Plummelo Browser Button. If you need help, check out the Installation Guide. Once the button is downloaded, be sure to go through the following steps:
1. Begin searching your favorite recipe sites, and click the button each time you see a recipe you want saved.
2. A small window will appear to let you know the recipe has a nice new home in your recipe box.
3. When you come back to your Plummelo account, you’ll see the new recipes saved in your box.
If you want to save recipes from offline sources, go to the My Recipes tab, and then select Add My Own Recipe. You will then be prompted to enter the recipe’s ingredients and cooking instructions.
It’s that easy! You’ll finally have all your go-to recipes in one central place.
Why do I get a message about an unsupported website?
The way the Plummelo browser button works is that it uses an algorithm that can read online recipes and then automatically save them to your recipe box. Unfortunately, each recipe website has its own way of displaying recipes, meaning that we have to program a unique algorithm every time we want our system to read from a new website. As you can imagine, programming all these algorithms takes time, and it means we cannot support every recipe site at this very moment (and we’ll admit, some sites are designed in such a way that our algorithms just won’t work). If you have a favorite recipe site that we don’t currently support, let us know at contact@plummelo.com. If enough users request it, we’ll get our programming team on it right away!
Which recipe websites do you support?
We currently support some of the top recipe generating online sites, including: FoodNetwork.com, Epicurious.com, AllRecipes.com, and BettyCrocker.com. For a full list of all of the sites we support, click here.
Don’t see one of your favorite recipe sites on this list? Let us know at contact@plummelo.com, and it may just become a new supported site.
Why should I register?
Having a registered account gives you full access to all of Plummelo’s features. A registered account allows you to immediately begin saving recipes into your personal recipe box, enter custom private or public recipes, and develop shopping lists. Once you register, you can access your Plummelo account from any computer or mobile device, and email recipes and shopping lists to any family member or friend.
Will you share my information?
At Plummelo, we take your privacy and personal information very seriously, and promise to never share any of your information without your express consent. Click here to review detailed information on our privacy policy.
Why don’t you guys have a feature that I really want?
We’re working on it! Really, we are. There are lots of features we want to add, too. Do let us know if there’s a feature you want and we’ll add it to our to-do list. But please, be patient; our to-do list is really long! Shoot us an email at contact@plummelo.com.
