I thought this was a fabulous idea, but they turned out to be too sweet for my taste. I'm sure the kids loved them, but I would be happy to go back to the good old fashioned Rice Krispie treats!

Use this recipe and NOT the one on the side of the cereal box. Six cups of cereal is the right ratio to melting a 10.5 oz bag of marshmallows to 3-4 tablespoons of butter (I used four). You must work quickly while the marshmallow mixture is hot and pliable.

We love cereal squares at our house - you can use this basic formula with cocoa krispies, rice krispies, cocoa pebbles, honey nut cheerios, kix, golden grahams...you name it. A great no-bake treat made only with pantry items...for when you don't have a lot of time and don't want to heat up your kitchen.
