This is my husband's perennial favorite. (Mine too!)

We moved into our house last fall, and I hosted a "girls' night in/housewarming" in November. I chose to start the party after 8PM and do just desserts and cocktails. These squares were part of the menu. Not only was the tray emptied clean, but people chased me down for the recipe! They are cakey and delicious, and I don't think they'd suffer from a schmear of cream cheese frosting if you were so inclined.
